About me
With more than two decades in science education, Christopher Like has dedicated his career to expanding access to meaningful, high-quality science learning for all students. He began as a high school science teacher, continually refining his practice to center student thinking and engagement. He later served eight years as a district curriculum leader, partnering with K–12 educators to implement ambitious science standards, support instructional shifts, and navigate challenges such as standards-based grading, curriculum adoption, and pandemic-era instruction. Currently, he serves as the Science Program Consultant for the State of Iowa, where he leads statewide efforts to strengthen science teaching and learning systems.
Christopher also brings the perspective of a practicing scientist, having spent many summers engaged in research ranging from medical studies at the Mayo Clinic to materials engineering connected to the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. He recently earned his doctorate in Science Education from the University of Iowa, where his research focused on the relationship between curriculum adoption and state assessment. Across all of his work, he is committed to building coherent systems that support student agency, elevate instructional quality, and reflect the dynamic, collaborative nature of science.
