About me
Dr. Kim McCoy-Parker is in her 11th year of teaching fifth grade at Four Mile Elementary in the Southeast Polk CSD. She also serves as the STEAM lab coordinator and model teacher. In 2022, Kim was awarded the PLTW Outstanding Teacher Award. She completed her doctoral degree in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Northern Iowa in December of 2022. Kim has endorsements in Computer Science K-12 and Instructional Strategist LD/BD and has found STEAM to be a great growth opportunity for ALL students. Kim works with a building STEAM Action team to provide STEAM and hands-on technological opportunities for all students in the PreK-5 elementary building, to build leaders and innovators, and to deepen their understanding across multiple grade bands and content areas. She continues to work on authentic integration of STEAM into her daily instruction.
