About me
Maddie Kampf is a K–5 science educator with Indianola Community School District and a doctoral student in Education at Drake University. She specializes in NGSS-aligned, inquiry-based science instruction that emphasizes student sensemaking, hands-on investigation, and meaningful connections to real-world issues. In 2025, she received the Iowa Governor’s STEM Teacher Award for the South Central region. At Drake, she conducts research with Dr. Jerrid Kruse focused on the implementation of socioscientific issues in science education and on supporting students’ understanding of the nature of science and nature of technology. Her broader professional interests include elementary science literacy, epistemological beliefs, arts integration, social-emotional learning, and the use of emerging technologies to support science teaching and learning.
